Every time you use a domain name, you use the Internet's domain name servers (DNS) to translate the human-readable domain name into the machine-readable IP address.(Domain name servers translate domain names to IP addresses. A name server provides the location of your IP address to the global registry.

Q. What does a term Primary and Secondary Name Server mean?
A. The Primary nameserver contains authoritative information for the domain name and is used to resolve that domain name to its corresponding IP number(s). The designation of "primary" means that this name server will be used first and will be relied upon before any of the other name servers. A secondary nameserver will be used in addition to and as a backup for the primary name server.
Q. How to I update my name servers, I have a new Web Hosting company?
A. Log into your Domain Manager and follow these steps:
1) click on "Name Servers/DNS
2) REPLACE the current nameservers with the new nameservers, erase (leave blank) any additional name servers that will not be in use.
3) execute the "Change" icon.
4) you will see a message "NameServers Updated Successfully"
Q. I am receiving an error trying to update my nameservers.
Error: Unable to add nameserver: Command failed: unable to verify existence of nameserver when I try to add my nameserver.
A. You are receiving this error because the registry does not recognize the nameserver that you are trying to add. First, check that you are entering the nameserver exactly as it was provided by your web host. If you are spelling the name correctly, the nameserver may need to be added to the registry's records as it has not yet been used with a domain in that registry. Please email Domainsupport@wsmdomains.com requesting that the nameservers be added to the registry. Make sure that you include all the nameservers that you need to add and the domain name you are trying to add them to in your email.
Q. I am receiving an error trying to update my nameservers.
Error: Unable to update nameservers: Registry error, domain's nameservers not updated [Domain status does not allow for operation].
A. You are receiving this error because your domain name is currently locked. You will need to unlock your domain name before you change your nameservers. Once you have updated your nameservers you may lock your domain name again.

A. You are receiving this error because you are entering the server host names incorrectly. Please note that you do not need to add the IP address of your nameservers as they will be added automatically.

Y. Yes, you can update up to 50 domains at one time by selecting the multiple name server update under "Manage Name Servers"
Q. Do you provide MX record changes or e-mail service?
A. Generally MX or mail is provided only thru our web server hosting options.
Q. I just transferred by domain and the name servers did not change, why?
A. Correct, when a domains changes to a new registrar, name servers do not update to prevent disruption in service.
Q. How can I create a Name Server?
A. If you are running DNS software on a seperate machine, or have been given assigned name server IP addresses, you can create a name server for your domain. Click on the advanced options in the Manage Name Server section of your Domain Manager (last section in the Nameserver/DNS)
